Co-op Students Available for Summer Mining and Exploration Work Terms
The University of Victoria has undergraduate Co-op students in geology and geotechnic programs available for summer work terms in the mining and exploration sector. UVic's junior Earth Sciences students complete courses in earth systems, mineralogy, sedimentary and structural geology and geochemistry. Upper level courses include areas such as igneous, metamorphic, and quaternary geology, paleobiology, atmospheric and oceanographic sciences, global tectonics, resource geology, hydrogeology and earth system science. The courses have a laboratory or practical component, and there are two field schools that further refines student skills. Students in the Geotechnic program also take courses in map and air photo interpretation, digital geomatics, GIS, remote sensing, geomorphology, and hydrology.

Trained Entry Level Field Workers Available for Hire in the Northwest!
Northwest Community College School of Exploration & Mining, in partnership with Smithers Exploration Group, has workers for hire from Northwestern BC. They are trained as mining exploration field assistants. They have entry-level instruction in: GPS, Map, Compass & Note Taking, Wilderness Safety and Survival, Camp Assembly, Grid Layout Methods, and Rock and Soil Sampling Techniques.
